Up for bids is this Digital DECMate VT278 Terminal. This is the same as a VT100 or VT102, except that it features a diskette interface. It was intended for word processing, and operation as a terminal. It is in excellent, working condition.
It was manufactured March of 1983.

The screen is nice and bright. (The brightness is actually software adjustable!)
All the keys work, and the keyboard is very very clean. The coiled cable is not overstretched, and has a 1/4" jack on the end just like an Apple Lisa!

There is some yellowing on the cabinet,
but not much.
There was a post-it note on the front, which was removed.
This has left a light 'shadow', but a light sanding would probably even things out.
All the rubber feet are in place.
The original power cord and an original serial cable are included!

After turning the terminal on, it is ready to go. Just tell it what baud rate to connect at.
The sticker on the front is a guide for setting up the baud rate and resolution and so forth.
It's all software controlled.

Here I've sent a cheezy text file to the terminal using my laptop.
The train goes round the track just as it should :) This also shows how nice the screen is.
Good focus and no burn in.

Here is another close shot of the screen. The manual focus on my camera leaves a lot to be desired.
But you can see in this picture that there is no burn in whatsoever!

The keyboard is super de duper clean!
It was stored underneath something else, so it is even less faded then the main unit.
As this picture shows, the keys are all super clean. Every key works as it should.

Here is the FCC information tag and manufacture date.

The model number.

Here we see the installed option cards.
The card on the left is the CPU board. To the right is the dual serial board
.

The back and bottom of the main unit.
The cover for the option cards is still there, and is not cracked or busted at all!

Here is the tag on the bottom of the keyboard.

Here is a view of the CPU card removed from the terminal.
Note how clean it is.
From what I have gathered, this terminal was used at a large corporation for a short time,
then donated to a college, where it sat unused for many years.
